Look where Quigley is!

Check out this awesome treasury I was just featured in:

'Twisted Tales' by YesfiasHouse

These guys all look like they've got a twisted tale to tell, or two!

I'm in such great company here! First of all, I love the Yermit boyfriend dolls. And Cocoon Designs was one of the first really awesome plush designers I found and favorited on Etsy. Not to mention - each plush is so different - the whale (I've been thinking about designing a whale plush, what do you think?), that hound dog. Super cool. I'm off to check out some more of them! (FYI, looks like some of the items didn't transfer to my page with the treasury generatormagiger I used - you can link directly to it here.)

By the way, Happy Halloween!!!

Craft room update

Here I am! I know, I know. Technically it's not still this weekend so technically I'm in trouble - but my camera actually died in the middle of my craftroom photoshoot so at least I have a valid excuse, right? Off the hook? Pheww! Thanks. :)

Now, these pictures are kinda gross because I haven't quite figured out the lighting situation for this room so I had to take them with the flash on. But you get the general idea.

Here's the one side of my room with all my fabric folded and sorted (woohoooo!!) and a few of my favorite things out and about:

And here's my happy little crafting corner:

...which I haven't actually used yet. But I can't wait to! Doesn't it look so cozy scrumptious?

And yes, the big fat crochet rug has been moved. Unfortunately, my other half does not have quite the same tastes as I do. They're pretty much opposite sides of the spectrum actually. But not a problem because this rug adds a great punch of color to the room.

I was kinda worried about the wall color after I finished painting because it's pretty subdued for me (btw, it's really not as orange as it appears - it's a nice warm brown/tan really). I was originally thinking like maybe a yellowy greeny color like here. Or this great bright blue color I kept seeing, like here and here. But after considering that I was going to be spending the majority of my time in there, I decided to go with something a little less jazzed up and more neutral and calm. And I really like it.

The room's still pretty sparse because I haven't put up any pictures/art yet, but that'll wait. I have to get some actual crafting done now in my crafting room. In the meantime, here are just a couple of my favorite spots so far:

Knowing me though, all this could change in a month. I tend to be a bit neurotic when it comes to organizing things. I was the kid who would have all her books alphabetically arranged on the shelf. Closet color coded. Collectibles in order of purchase date. Etc.

And I still have to show you my desk project! Geesh. Soon!

Bad Blogger! Bad!

So it's been kinda hard for me to find time to get any blogging done lately. I really feel guilty and miss this space when I'm away.

But what have I been doing?
  • Churning out birdie ornaments like a mad-woman for the holiday show.
  • Working on different parts of my craftroom - it's all starting to come together. I'll update you on that later this weekend. (See? Now that I told you that - I'll HAVE to get my butt back on here and post some pics.)
  • Dealing with some cat drama - first they decided to get fleas. Great. Then they decided that they're not going to get along (and that is the thing that worries me most b/c they've been best buds up to this point. I don't know if it's b/c Moe is maturing, or the fleas are putting them on edge or what...any insight would be most appreciated) so their normal rough & tumble sessions have been turning into actual brawls, complete with minor injuries. Cooper's gotten two real scratches on his little pink nose. And when I went to clip his nails, I found one of them split, a little bloody, with Moe-hair in it. And cat's don't like anything on their feet, you know, so trying to treat that was interesting.
Ugh. But we did manage to get some pumpkin fun in the other day!

Cooper helped, of course. Don't be scared's my design:

Ooooo! And here's mine and Jon's together! :)

Cool, huh? Have you carved your pumpkins yet?

...I've been pretty darn busy. But in a wonderfully good way.

In preparation for the holiday gift gallery, I've been sewing up stuff like a mad woman. By the way, my meeting with the coordinator last Thursday went so well. She's a lovely woman - very fun and very helpful. I'm so excited to be a part of this event. Here's a little sneak peek of what I've been working on for it:

Amongst all this crafty business - I'm still trying to be a good housekeeper. Which hasn't been going very well. And dinner has been cereal, and tortilla chips and spinach dip for like the past week. Terrible. But I did spend all day yesterday cleaning. And getting the Sebring ready for sale. Know of anyone who needs a car? Cheap?

And on top of that, I'm still trying to pull this craft room together. I've managed to get it painted. And picked out a desk (which I still haven't shared with you...). But that's about it. This is what it currently looks like:

Eesssh. Ugh. Blech.

Oooo! But we did manage to finally find me some storage. Some Ikea bookcases via Craigslist. Sweet. Wanna see?

They're almost brand new and they're the color I wanted and they were a pretty good deal. Baby steps, folks. Baby steps.

Sunny days & great big fat crochet

We've had some really beautiful days here lately. Recently, I made a small kitchen rug for Jon's mom.

I like crochet because it's very forgiving. And it's quick. And fun. And relaxing. But mostly forgiving - you can pretty much do your own thing and stuff still turns out great. :)

I didn't really use a pattern or anything. Just work up your first row of single crochets until it looks about right for the center, then turn, putting a few extra stitches in the end to make up for the turn and just keep going to your heart's content 'til you're happy. Like I said, very forgiving craft, that crochet. (If you want some actual real steps on how I did this, contact me and I'd be glad to help with more detailed instructions.)

Anyway, it worked up in a few hours. Probably would've been less than that -but I had a really great "helper". know how that goes.

This kind of thing is really fun and easy to do. I also have another great big - like huge - full room-sized one of these that's been in progress since last year. All kinds of colors. A project like this is great for when your hands want to be busy but you're uninspired or just too tired to focus on anything more complex. Here we go - picture of the big one.

As you can see, I get a lot of help around here...

UPDATE: Due to popular request, I've created a vlog tutorial series on this project.  If you want more detailed instruction on this project, please visit the links below.  If you have questions after that - I'd be glad to help!

Some exciting news

I've been invited to participate in a Holiday show in downtown Rochester! It's not a show show. It's an art gallery - which has a gift gallery inside of it - and for the holidays they fill the entire gallery, upstairs and down, with the gift gallery. So they invite a bunch of local artists to come sell their goods during November and December. And my plushies are invited!

I haven't officially accepted yet - but I think I'm gonna go for it. Actually - yeah, I'm going for it. I have to work on beefing up my inventory a bit. But I have time. And I need to work on pricing a bit - they work on commission - this is all very new to me. So I have some figurin' to do.

But how exciting! Are you excited? My first brick and mortar experience. I'll keep you updated as things develop. I have to wait til tomorrow to call the gallery and set up a meeting, etc.

And sorry this is a non-picture post. So here - some gardening Cooper and I did this summer...

and Moe being absolutely adorable.
