Birth of an Elephantie

I'm taking a slightly different approach to creating this plush.

Usually, I just draw up a design, mull it over in my head to figure out how to take it from 2-D to 3-D (this part can actually end up taking the longest - pondering while falling asleep at night, drawing out different pieces over and again, thinking about it driving to work and back, etc.), start drawing up and fitting pattern pieces and then I'm off to fabric.

The step from pattern to fabric has always been a wing and a prayer kinda jump.

But seeing as how heffalumps (and sometimes woosels) can be quite confoosal - I didn't want to take any chances.  So I tried a complete mock up.  And look!!

It's a half an elephant!  Haha.  Of course I only cut out one of each of the pieces so he's a little floppy - but you get the general idea.  I have to switch gears and finish up my owlie now.  But I'm really happy on the progress I made with this today.  <3  What do you think?!

He's really going to be adorable. I am glad that you have worked out a new method that works for you... even the things we enjoy creating can use a little help from the "lets streamline this process" fairy!
