The proof is in the pudding

The raised bed construction continues.  This weekend, while Jon dug the holes for the posts, I dug up the grass out of the raised beds.

Go ahead and ignore the fact that I'm wearing my snowmobiling boots as garden boots...
Well, one at least.  It was a lot of hard work!  I was pooped!

...also ignore the fact that yes, apparently my tongue sticks out when I work.
Now we're looking into some local dirt and manure places.  I'm kinda scared at the amount we're gonna need to bring in....  A lot.  I'm assuming a lot.

Well, that's all for now!  Just wanted to stop in and prove that I'm actually gettin in on this garden bed action.  Boys aren't the only ones who like to play in the dirt. :)

Just wondering why your removing the grass?? Second, are you putting a bottom in those beds half way up with drain holes, so you only need half the dirt??

Hi Ann Marie! We removed the grass bc the stuff I've been researching online said that it was the thing to do. Haha! It made sense tho bc our soil is so bad that we're actially going to till the existing area a bit too before adding our mix. So nope- no bottoms either. All dirt. Do u have raised beds? I haven't had a chance to check ur blog yet to find out... :) Although I've done a ton of research - this is my first time trying them.
